3 nights/2 days, from Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon.
Anaëlle and Tom tell you all about their trip to Alsace!
That's it, the bags are packed, we're hitting the road. towards Florival in Alsace, more precisely in Bergholtz, a village in the countryside, where our La Longère des Capucines holiday cottage awaits us.
We discover our cosy weekend retreat, where Sylvie gives us a warm welcome. She has even lit a fire in the stove., «so romantic» to kick off our little trip for two!
Experienced hikers We came to break in our walking shoes, as we had heard a lot about Guebwiller and hiking trails around the Grand Ballon, We were promised breathtaking scenery!
We get up early the next day and it's really handy to find the bakery a few metres from the holiday rental, We have croissants and fresh bread for breakfast!

The weather is perfect for the hike we spotted a few days ago on VisoRando: Le Grand Ballon via a lake and waterfalls. We book our table in advance at the Haag farmhouse inn which is halfway along our route; if we are fortunate, we will be able to catch a glimpse of the Alps from the terrace!
We really recommend taking the time to have lunch at a farmhouse inn. It's such a friendly atmosphere, the produce is fresh and local, and you're guaranteed to have a good time and meet some lovely people. The marcaire menu is a best seller, we still remember it!

In total, we will have covered 15km, with an 800-metre elevation gain – a beautiful hike, in short! What a wonderful day, we were treated to some stunning views! Lake Ballon is magnificent., it seems that it is one of the places the most romantic places in Alsace, We took a short break there to enjoy the tranquillity of the place and the beauty of the landscape.
We are really delighted with our walk and are returning to our lovely cottage this evening to enjoy an evening together... The place is perfect for couples. who wish to do a romantic getaway !
On Saturdays, we decide instead to go stroll through the surrounding vineyards, by following the recommendations on the website Grand Ballon hike published by the tourist office.
The Orschwihr Wine Trail enables us to understand the specific characteristics from the vineyards of Alsace, It's a short two-hour walk, ideal for recovering from our efforts the day before. On Sylvie's advice, we have lunch at the Vallon restaurant in Guebwiller and then let's head to the Old Armand's Cellar to taste these Alsatian grape varieties so renowned; a good opportunity to leave with a few boxes to take home. Gewürztraminer is the star of the aperitif we enjoy in the evening, accompanied by a few pretzels, on the pleasant patio of the cottage.
Before leaving on Sunday, we make a detour to the little valley of Murbach, in order to discover its majestic Abbey ; and we don't regret it for a moment, it's beautiful and this village is an incredibly rejuvenating place... Our batteries are recharged, We'll be back, that's for sure, but next time we'll stay for a week to explore. the region's must-sees or why not for go skiing or come and dream during the Christmas season !
